Connecting AllStar 3 Stock Image

If you have a ASL3 image or any other network software image that uses DNS registrations, you can apply these changes. They connect you to New England GMRS.

Required ASL3 Version

Use app_rpt / ASL3 version 3.10.8 or newer.

1. Configure Node Lookup

Edit: /etc/asterisk/rpt.conf

Under the [general] section, use:

node_lookup_method = dns
dns_node_domain = nodes.newenglandgmrs.com
max_dns_node_length = 6

2 Configure Registration

Edit: /etc/asterisk/rpt_http_registrations.conf

Use your assigned New England GMRS node number and registration password:

[general]
register_interval = 180

[registrations]
register => YOURNODE:YOURPASSWORD@register.newenglandgmrs.com

3 Restart Asterisk

sudo sysemctl restart asterisk

Notes:

Your stock Allmon 3 will not display the node descriptions correctly. The listing will most likely say “Private Node”

You can fix this by making this change:

Edit /usr/lib/python3/dist-packages/asl_allmon/node_db/init.py
From: __url = “https://allmondb.allstarlink.org/“
To: __url = “https://register.newenglandgmrs.com/astdb.txt“

If you want to use Supermon 8 or another dashboard you will have to point the data source to:
https://register.newenglandgmrs.com/astdb.txt
